Overall Rating | 2 1/2 FDL
Type of Site | Leanto site
Easy to find? | Noooooo way | If you don't know where you are going, forget it! Do yourself a favor and ask for help. |
Capacity | 4 or 5 leantos | The leantos sleep 4 big fat scouters with plenty of room. Judge for yourself based on your unit |
Can you drive to it? | Not really | 4 wheel drives bottom out on the way to Lenape. The dirt road into the site dead ends in the middle of the forest. Be prepared to hike in. |
Water | Water is nowhere to be found | You got to hike it in from the Conklin farms sulfur water, The pines pump or the Ten Mile River. |
Latrine | 1 seater just as you come into the site, 5 steps away. | State of repair debatable. BYOTP. |
Biggest Advantage | It is in the middle of nowhere. | If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. No one will bother you, not even the ranger. |
Secondary Advantage | It is right on the TMR and the Tusten Mountain Trails.. | Lots of interesting landscapes to interest the scouts. Culverts, wooden bridges, pine forests, switchbacks, etc... |
Primary Disadvantage | The water situation | Any way you look at it, it is quite a haul. Make sure you purify any water that needs to be. Perfect punishment for that troublesome scout. |
Secondary disadvantage | Getting to the site | Parking at the trailhead can also be at a premium. |
