Overall Rating | 3 FDL | |
Capacity | 20 each (there is an A and B Cabin) | Bunk Beds, Upper and Lower with mattresses. If you have a larger Troop, you may want to rent out both A & B cabins. |
Kitchen Facilities | Full kitchen, refrigerator, stove, oven and sinks. | You can do a cooking show from here. |
Surroundings | It is in the Headquarters area. | Turnpike Lake nearby. During the summer it is the Health Lodge, during the Winter, they rent it out to your Troop. |
Heat | Gas heat. | You pay for the gas you use by the number of "clicks", i.e. numbers that pass on the gas meter. Cold weekends can run you a pretty penny. NO FIREPLACE! You are a slave to the gas meter. On cold weekends, just give your wallet to the ranger. |
Water | Water piped right to your cabin. | And they call it "camping." |
Toilet Situation | 2 flush toilets with showers. | "A" Cabin has 2 small
flush toilets with showers and an auxiliary wash basin outside one of the
toilets. "B" Cabin has 1 larger restroom with 2 stall toilets, 1 shower and a bathtub (the bathtub has a shower curtain and rod, but no shower head. I still don't know what they are trying to get at) and 2 wash basins outside the bathroom. |
Biggest Advantage | Big comfortable cabin for the "hangout" weekend, or Christmas trip your unit plans. | Winterized by the Ranger staff of Ten Mile River. They are monuments to their ingenuity. Basically put together with NO funds, and NO supplies!! |
Secondary Advantage | It is closer to the Lake and I think a more scenic site. | Beautiful area. |
Primary Disadvantage | NO FIREPLACES! | On cold weekends, you can drop $80 bucks just on gas. |
Secondary Disadvantage | Bathroom fixtures are really showing their age. | Just as the Hearst cabins, these fixtures are old and in serious need of updating. |
