Schiff Scout Reservation in Suffolk County, Long Island

Schiff Scout Reservation can be reached by taking the Long Island Expressway (I 495) to Exit 69. Then north on Wading River – Manor Road, 5 miles to the camp entrance on the right (just past a trailer park on the right and about an 1/8 of mile past a large white church on the left.)

 

 

William H. Pouch Scout Camp

From New York City: Take the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and follow the Staten Island Expressway to Slossen Avenue - Todt Hill Road exit. Follow the service road two lights to Manor Road and turn left. Follow Manor Road to the Camp Pouch entrance.


From Northern New Jersey: Exit I.95 South at I. 278 East (Goethels Bridge). Proceed to tool booth. Travel east on I. 278 (Staten Island Expressway) to the Bradley Avenue exit. Turn right on Bradley Avenue to Brielle Avenue. Turn left on Brielle Avenue; follow the road to Manor Road. Turn right on Manor Road traveling for 1.3 miles. Look for the camp entrance on your left.


From Central New Jersey: Exit I.95 at I. 287 East (Hwy. 440 East Exit). Follow I. 287 - Hwy 440 east to Outer Bridge Crossing. After toll booth, get in right hand lane and take Hwy 440 (West Shore Expressway) North to I. 278 East. Travel east on I. 278 (Staten Island Expressway) to the Bradley Avenue exit. Turn right on Bradley Avenue to Brielle Avenue. Turn left on Brielle Avenue; follow the road to Manor Road. Turn right on Manor Road traveling for 1.3 miles. Look for the camp entrance on your left.

 

 

Alpine Scout Camp

By bus: Take the Red-Tan Bus (#9A) from 175th St. at Port Authority terminal (G.W. Bridge) to Alpine Scout Camp (approx. $6.50 roundtrip).


By car from New York City: Travel to the George Washington Bridge taking the upper level. Take your first exit on your right in New Jersey (Palisades Pkwy. North). Travel for about 9 miles to exit 2 - Alpine approach road. Follow the exit around under the Pkwy. to a traffic light (this will be Route 9W). Make a right hand turn and travel north for about 1-1/4 miles. Alpine Scout Camp will be on your left hand side.


By car from New Jersey: From southern or mid-New Jersey, you can take either the New Jersey Turnpike or Garden State Pkwy. to Inter State 80. Travel on 80 to the last exit before the George Washington Bridge toll (this will be in Fort Lee). The exit will say Route 9 and Palisades Pkwy. You may than take either Route 9W for 10 miles to Camp Alpine (it will be on your left), or get on to the Palisades Pkwy. and travel for about 9 miles to exit 2 - Alpine approach road. Follow the exit around under the Pkwy. to a traffic light (this will be Route 9W). Make a right hand turn and travel north for about 1-1/4 miles. Alpine Scout Camp will be on your left hand side.

 

 

Ten Mile River Scout Reservation

Via the Palisades Interstate Parkway
* Take the upper level of the George Washington bridge (I-95 West) stay in right hand lane and exit onto
       Palisades Parkway going North. Go 35 miles to exit 18, Route 6. Bear left onto Route 6 at fork.
* Follow Route 6 West for 6 miles to route 17 West. Take 17 West for 44 miles. Continue below
      "Directions from Monticello."

Via New York State Thruway
* Triboro Bridge onto Major Deegan Expressway (I-87 North) to New York State Thruway over the Tappan
       Zee Bridge
*  Exit #16 onto Route 17
*   Route 17 west for 44 miles. Continue below "Directions from Monticello."

Directions from Monticello (continued from above)
* Exit Route 17 West at Exit 104. Follow the signs on the exit ramp for route 17B West.
      Go past the racetrack for approx. 6 miles to blinking light at White Lake.
* Continue just 0.7 miles and make left turn onto Route 55 west.
* Follow Route 55 west for 4.2 miles and make right onto County Route 26
* Follow signs to your TMR camp or headquarters

Note: Route 17B is the last time you can get gas before camp!
